What happens when everything you’ve built falls apart?

This isn’t a business book. It’s a real story about loss, grief, and the long, messy road to starting over. Cody Sisson spent 46 years building a precision machine shop from the ground up, crafting parts for everything from high-performance engines to medical and aerospace components. Then one day, it was gone. What came next wasn’t a plan, it was survival. Then clarity. Then the slow, stubborn act of rebuilding a life on new terms. The Day the Shop Went Quiet isn’t a blueprint or a checklist. It’s a gut-punch of a memoir for anyone who’s ever lost their way, and a powerful reminder that even after the bottom falls out, you’re not done yet.

About the Author

Cody Sisson is a gearhead, a creator, and a problem-solver who spent more than 46 years building and running a precision machine shop he built from scratch. Over the decades, his shop grew into a respected and successful business. He built a reputation on creativity, grit, and figuring things out when there wasn’t a rulebook. He lives on a 100-acre farm on top of a mountain in Northfield, Massachusetts, with his wife Jeannie and their two dogs. When he’s not working on machines, he’s piloting iceboats, dragsters, or chasing spiritual meaning, sometimes all at the same time. These days, he's focused on helping others learn from the hard lessons of losing everything and figuring out what comes next.
